Home Run Derby is a classic example of baseball simulators of the 90’s, since it was one of the most exciting challenges for the gamers of that era. Create your own batter and face a real challenge, as you have to measure up against the most famous batters of the time, if you want to win and play alongside the mythical Ruth Babes in a friendly match.

While there are many titles of baseball simulator from that time, not many of them had the detail and the development that Homerun Derby offers to its players. If you decide to play this DOS game, you will not be disappointed, as you will enjoy the graphics, the music and the sound effects, in which you could even hear voice clips narrating the derby.

Home Run Derby is centered on the keyboard, as you have to use the direction keys to hit the ball when it’s near you. Although the game doesn’t have a pitching mode like most games of this type, batting is really fun not to mention that is a real challenge to hit the ball and escalate on the tournament.

There’s a practice mode and the homerun derby mode, but before jumping into the derby we recommend to try a few times the practice mode, since you need a few rounds to adapt to the DOS timing. The homerun derby mode is a competition, in which you’ll have to hit more homeruns than your adversary to get to the next round and win the game with the legends.

Although the playability is a little tough because of the timing, we have to say that we were very excited to play this game, since the music, the graphics and the whole game was really entertaining.
